A one stop platform for Champion Service Sectors of India. As a dedicated services promotion portal of Department of Commerce, Ministry of Commerce & Industry, India Services focus on sector-specific promotion of Champion service sectors to highlight the potential of India’s Services and boosts its contribution in Exports, GDP and Employment. India Services is an active portal disseminating important information and enquiries related to the 12 Champion Service Sectors of India. Through India Services, we are bringing together the stakeholders in the services sector working on the sectoral action plans for the development of the Champion Sectors.


Champion Services Sectors alludes to the 12 services sectors identified by the Department of Commerce to give focused attention promoting their development, and realizing their potential. Under the Scheme, concerned Line Ministries/Departments are directed to formulate cross-cutting action plans to promote their growth of champion services sectors of India. The Union Cabinet has approved creation of a dedicated fund of Rs.5000 Crore to enable expedited approvals for funding, as required, of sectoral initiatives of the identified Champion Services sectors.

Services sector is a key driver in the India’s economic growth with significant contribution in Trade, GDP, Employment and Foreign Investments.

The services category is the highest recipient of FDI Inflows in India with share of over 60% in the total foreign investments into India. Services Sector (Banking, financial, consultancy services, etc.), Computer Software & Hardware, Telecommunications, Construction development, Trading, Hotel and Tourism, Information & Broadcasting, Hospital & Diagnostic Centres, Consultancy Services and Sea Transport are the top services sectors attracting highest FDI inflows.

India is the export hub for modern services like software services, business & financial services. India is also becoming a destination for medical tourism as a result of cheaper but quality healthcare services.

Established technology base and infrastructure for services, large pool of skilled manpower, rising investments, rapidly increasing youth population are some important advantages for India in the services sector.


Policy Support

Relaxed FDI norms, Make in India, Start-up India, Digital India, Skill India, are important policy initiatives by Government supporting the growth of Indian services sector.


Exports Growth

Growth in global exports of commercial services has acted as a catalyst for expansion of India’s services sector. World commercial services exports have increased from US$ 4.15 trillion in 2011 to US$ 5.25 trillion in 2017.


Rising Per capital Income

Growth in per capita income has resulted in higher domestic demand for various services such as travel and tourism, healthcare and telecommunications.
